There are students from 148 countries who speak 117 different languages, which is why the district is going out of its way to help many of the new parents understand the U.S. school system. Almost 10 years ago, Howard County launched what it calls the International Parent Leadership Program and the word international is not by accident. They're parents on a mission to find out what their children are learning and how they can become more involved."
